What began in 1980 in the Berlin Wall City in impetuous noise constructions went through countless metamorphoses and can still be called the avant-garde today. To avoid the impressive work outstripping the band, Blixa Bargeld, NU Unruh, Alexander Hacke, Jochen Arbeit and Rudolf Moser always set new artistic goals. Regardless of whether theater projects like Heiner Müller’s “Hamletmaschine”, the highly experimental “model house” project, or more recently “Lament”, a musical work at the outbreak of the First World War, based on the history of the destruction of the Belgian city of Diksmuide during this war – the unpredictability of It prevents collapsing new buildings from deteriorating into artifacts and secures them a place in the canon of the current avant-garde.
